Goal: Create a 2–3 minute video that makes others want to read your book—without spoilers!
Title of the book
Author’s name
Reading level (Lexile/AR/grade level if available)
A tease of the plot or characters (no spoilers!)
At least one quote from the book
A cliffhanger question at the end
How to Structure Your Book Talk
Hook (First 10–15 seconds)
Start with a question or dramatic statement to grab attention.
Book Info
Say the title, author, and reading level.
Tease the Story
Introduce the main character(s), setting, or problem.
Do NOT give away the ending or big twists.
Read a Quote
Choose a short quote that shows mood, character, or tension.
Why Read It?
Share who might like this book (mystery fans, fantasy lovers, sports readers, etc.).
Cliffhanger Ending
End with a question that makes viewers curious.
Keep it 2–3 minutes
Record in a quiet space with good lighting - if you need to record in the library, email Mrs. Melcher to set up a time.
Look at the camera and speak clearly
Hold up the book cover if you can
Be enthusiastic—your excitement helps others want to read!

Book Trailers Should Include:
Title of the Novel
Name of the author
Hook (something to capture your viewer’s interest)
Length 1:30-3:00 minutes
Represent at least 3 scenes
Include music that supports the theme/feeling of your novel/trailer and makes it entertaining…another element to pull in the viewer.
Include images or video that accurately represent your novel.
* you may NOT use photos or video from a movie or show
Include transitions
Include credits if you got your photos/music etc. from the internet
Make viewers want to read the book without giving spoilers/giving the book away.
