Resources

Ensuring your environment is safe is just one more part of practicing environmental wellness. Here are some resources for you to help ensure your safety at home and on campus:

Unified Support Centre/ Foot Patrol (USC)

The Unified Support Centre/ Foot Patrol offer services such as evening and safety-related supports to ensure that all students feel comfortable on and off campus. Two of their services, Safe Walk and the Walk and Talk programs, are great resources for your walk home. Their volunteers can walk you home or chat on the phone to provide company and help you feel safe heading home from campus.

Check out their website below to find out more information on their services!

Unsafe at Home Ottawa

Unsafe at Home Ottawa is a secure text and online chat service for women and members of the LGBTQ2S+ communities in Ottawa who may be living through increased violence and abuse at home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their text and online chat service is available 7 days a week from 8:30am to midnight, and your conversations are confidential and secure.

Shelter Safe

Shelter Safe is an online resource for women and their children seeking safety from violence and abuse. They provide a safe and welcoming home that accommodates women and connecting them with Shelter Liaise who ensure that they have counselling support and health care.

Their website is a resource for women directly impacted by violence as well as for their concerned friends, family, and employers. They have an interactive map that is not only a tool but a reminder of the safety net created across Canada to serve victims of domestic violence.

Nisa Homes

Nisa Homes was created out of the need to support the most vulnerable and marginalized members of the Ottawa community. They have created a place for women to live comfortably and feel safe in a supportive home environment to explore their cultural identity and directly connect them with their community. Their services range from childcare, finding secure locations, programs and activities, spiritual support, financial assistance, and much more.

There are so many incredible resources available to help support you through your own Environmental Wellness. If you know of any resources or services that you use and are not reflected on this website, please email vpce@cusaonline.ca.
