Cupertino FC fields competitive team for both boys and girls from U8 through U18.
We build teams opportunistically to compete in the local competitive leagues. Most of our teams are placed in the Copper/Bronze/Silver brackets of CCSL within Cal North's Division II.
We host open tryouts, usually in the late Spring (for building teams for the coming Fall season) and perhaps in the late Fall (to expand teams before the Spring season). But we also try to place players all through the year, for those who are not already part of a club team. If you are part of a club but are looking for alternatives, we would love to talk with you, but work with your club first and expect to finish the current season before any changes are made.
Our teams train year round, though usually with more relaxed schedules during the summer and winter breaks. Expect two or maybe three practices each week (one or two practices for the younger ages), with 8-10 games on weekends during the ~3 month seasons in both Fall and Spring. Practices and many home games are at schools in the area, commonly Kennedy Middle School and Eaton Elementary in Cupertino. Away games will vary according to league decisions on division and bracket definitions, while most will be in and around the South Bay and Peninsula assume that some games can range from San Francisco or perhaps Davis all the way down to Aptos (carpooling is strongly encouraged).
Many of our competitive teams participate in tournaments all over the greater Bay Area, and often these can be highlights of the season. Choices about when and where to compete in tournaments is made by the team coaches and managers based on the degree of interest from the players and the availability of coaches. The exact choices vary by team and may involve some extra expenses for the teams that choose to go to a lot of tournaments.
A reminder: Playing competitive soccer is a commitment. Full participation in scheduled practices and games are important for teams to improve. Practice schedules are set early during the preseason training and are based on resource availability; no practice schedule is ideal for every player, competitive soccer families are expected to be able to flex their weekday schedules enough to ensure that every player can be available during the scheduled times. Game schedules are not set until the season begins and games can be adjusted until about a week before each game; players are expected to be able to prioritize getting to games above most other weekend activities (families are encouraged to arrange carpools and help teammates manage any logistical issues that arise).
