Hello, I'm Abi Finnegan and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, neurofeedback practitioner and trainer. I specialise in working with developmental trauma, Complex Trauma (CPTSD), PTSD, Dissociation, "personality disorders", grief, traumatic grief, chronic pain, anxiety and low mood.
Experience, Training and Qualifications
I’m particularly interested in helping you find new ways of understanding, managing and sometimes resolving both the emotional and the physical symptoms of stress, distress and trauma. Some of the physical experiences you may have might include chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, back pain, headaches, circulatory problems and more
I offer psychotherapy that is integrative, and includes somatic trauma therapy, allowing a whole body approach to healing.
I understand that coming to see a psychotherapist can feel difficult and I hope to help you feel as comfortable as possible by working at your pace, and responding to your needs, in a way that's right for you. I work both online and face to face.
I hold an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy, and Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision, and I have worked in the field of Trauma and Complex Trauma for 20 years in various roles in the NHS, the Third Sector, and privately. I have also been a lecturer training other counsellors and psychotherapists.
Please do contact me on 07788910805, or using the email link to discuss how I may be able to support you.
I am registered with both the UKCP and BACP.
Trauma-Informed Integrative Psychotherapy offers an individualised approach recognising that everybody is different, and takes into account the impact of previous traumas, both known, and maybe unknown, or dis- associated from.
Working relationally, together we can explore how your life events have impacted you and your life emotionally, and also physically, creating a gentle space to move through some of the difficulties you may be experiencing.
I offer a combination of integrative psychotherapy, somatic trauma therapy, and neurofeedback, allowing a whole body approach to healing that is tailored to meet your needs.
I work with both young people (11 years +), and adults in a range of settings including face to face and online.
I have offered clinical supervision to both trainees and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists for the last 5 years in both groups and 1:1, offering a space to explore your practise, grounded in Hawkins and Shohet's 7-eyed model of clinical supervision, supporting an all round, multi dimensional way of thinking about your work. I am also an approved clinical supervisor for Edinburgh University and Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute.
Supervision can happen both in person and online and I provide face to face options in both Carlisle and Edinburgh.
My rates for clinical supervision are £80 per session.
If you’re interested in group supervision this may be of interest to you!
I will be undertaking advanced training with the Institute of Group Analysis and will be offering free clinical supervision as part of my training requirement on a hybrid basis fortnightly online on Monday evenings for the next 12 months.
Places are limited (maximum 5) and sessions will run for 1.5 hours every two weeks.
“The primary purpose of supervision is to throw light on the therapeutic relationship…In group supervision, it is not only the experience and “know-how” of the supervisor that makes a difference, but the dialogue between colleagues of the supervision group, each of whom has a different perspective on therapeutic situation.” Behr & Hearst 2005
You may have experiences of supervision in groups and are looking to join a new group, or you might have no experience of this and be intrigued as to what it can offer. If this speaks to you and you’d like to know more please contact me abigail@cumbriapsychotherapy.com and we can arrange a time for a chat to discuss further.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Abi
