Instructions for registering for courses:

Log into Your Student Aspen Account USING STUDENT LOG-IN INFORMATION: ASPEN PORTAL
Choose the my info tab at the top of the page
Select Requests in the right hand menu bar
Guidance has provided students with very specific information about course selection on the course request screen. Please follow those instructions as you make course selections.

General Course Selection Information 2020-21

Please make your course selections carefully. Once your entries are input into Aspen, a copy of your requests can be viewed via Aspen. If there are any errors or changes need to be made, your request must be submitted to the high school school counseling office by April 3, 2020. There will be no course or level changes after April 3, 2020.

All students must take 7 credits. Full Year courses = 1.0 credit, Semester courses = 0.5 credit
Completion of the course selection form is encouraged to help make the on-line course selection easier and quicker. It provides you with the opportunity to review your selections before actually completing the on-line requests.
Grade specific information:

9^th grade students must select English 1, US History, Math (Algebra 1 or Geometry), Principles of Physics, PE/Health 9, World Language, and 1.5 elective credits.
10^th grade students must select English 2, Social Studies (Global Studies, AP European History or AP Human Geography), Math (Algebra 1, Geometry or Algebra 2), Chemistry, PE/Health 10, World Language, and 1.5 elective credits.
11^th grade students must select English 3 or a combination of approved semester English 3 offerings, History Elective (Civics also required for graduation), Math (Geometry, Algebra 2 or Upper Level Math), Biology, PE/Health (PE/Health 11 or Fitness & Conditioning I), and 2.5 elective credits (students anticipating applying to a 4-year college are encouraged to enroll in a third year of a World Language)

12^th grade students must select courses to ensure they will meet the following graduation requirements: English (4 credits), Math (4 credits), Science (3 credits), Social Studies (3.5 credits), PE/Health (2 credits), World Language (2 credits) unless on the alternate diploma track, Fine Arts (0.5 credits), Technology (0.5 credits), and Electives (4.5 credits) for a minimum of 24 credits. 12^th grade students must select English 4 or a combination of approved semester English 4 offerings, Math or a Math related course (AP Physics or Physics Honors are the only Math related courses that will meet graduation requirements), PE/Health (PE/Health 12, Fitness & Conditioning 1 or Fitness & Conditioning 2), and 4.5 elective credits during their senior year. Students should refer to the minimum requirements for the colleges of their interest when selecting electives to ensure all admission requirements are met.

4. Select the most appropriate level for you.

Consult with your teachers, counselor and parents. CP=College Prep, H=Honors, AP=Advanced Placement* – for more information on levels, please consult the Cumberland High School Program of Studies (*students in AP classes are required to take the AP exam -2020-2021 cost is approximately $94)

5. Students who require intervention or academic enrichment courses will have those courses entered into Aspen for them.

6. A full list of course descriptions and prerequisites are available in the Program of Studies. Please refer to it while making course selection decisions.
