Jazz Ensemble

The Southwest Jazz Ensemble is growing into one of the premier high school Jazz Ensembles in Southern California. The group plays some of the most challenging big band repertoire available, including the music of Duke Ellington and Count Basie. The Jazz Ensemble has performed at a number of festivals and competitions including Jazz at Lincoln Center's Essentially Ellington region festival in Mesa, Arizona, The Coronado Jazz Festival, and The Mira Costa Jazz Festival. The Band regularly receives Superior Ratings at festivals and competitions, and individual members receive outstanding musician/soloist awards at virtually every contest and festival the band participates in. The Band also sends in recordings every year to the Jazz at Lincolns Center's Essentially Ellington competition in New York.
