El Centro FFA's pants for pets coalition asked for second hand jeans for our jean drive. Collected jeans were then were repurposed and made into dog toys, constructed by our chapter members to be able to donate them to the Humane Society of Imperial Valley for the pets who are in need.
Feeder school visits give us the opportunity to encourage students to join the agriculture industry during high school. We give students the opportunity to seek out each ag pathway that we offer at Southwest High School.
The Greenhand officer team was re established during the 2023-24 school year. Freshman strive for success and us a chapter string to do more, we encouraged our freshman to run for Greenhand positions.
Southwest Agriculture was featured in the Imperial County Office of Education showcase, an event showcasing CTE pathways in the Imperial County. Five members from our chapter attended and advocated for Ag education. Our students discussed pathways with board members, superintendents, and college recruits creating connections for upcoming events.
The 2023 Imperial Section O.C. competition was organized by a team of members from our chapter's Leadership committee. With a total of 275 competitors, the team developed contest room schedules, escorted participants and organized score cards. Members learned about the importance of decision-making and developed as leaders through the experience.
Lindsey Dale is the Imperial County Voter registration chairman. he came to our government classes at southwest high school to teach high schools seniors about the importance of voting.
