Course Overview
This year long course is an in depth study in contemporary media using Adobe Creative Suite. Technical skills learned will apply specifically to Photoshop and Illustrator. The class is structured around projects emphasizing the art elements of line, shape, color, and texture. It will introduce the student to the principles of design including rhythm, balance, proportions, and variety. Students will develop an appreciation of traditional artistic expression as well as an understanding of the role of contemporary media as a verbal and visual means of communication in today’s society.
Course Objectives
Students will gain the skills and project-based experience needed for entry into graphic design and development careers.
Students will be able to use a variety of strategies and tools to create graphic design projects on the computer with professional software.
Students will develop awareness and appreciation of the myriad ways that people use graphic design and will be able to create standards-based artwork.
