The “(An Idol) Trainee Chinese” is the first volume of the Performing Arts Profession Chinese Course. This course is to help overseas learners interested in performing arts to fast-track their degree programs by simulating the training process of an artist, from casting, elimination, training, and till they launch their first debut.

This course covers Band A (Level 1 and Level 2) in the Chinese Language Proficiency Test, and adopts “backward design” approach. It is designed based on the training for trainees (pre-debut artists). In addition to learning simple daily conversations, learners will also be able to integrate their basic expertise in the performing arts discipline and the practical application of Chinese.

The content of “(An Idol) Trainee Chinese” is designed based on the concept of puzzle games so that learners can participate in it as if they are watching TV game shows. This course is not only suitable for classroom teaching, but also suitable for self-learning. The vocabulary in each of the ten units is in line with the vocabulary lists provided by the National Academy for Educational Research (NAER) at Level 2 and Level 3 (in addition to basic and commonly used proper nouns), and there will be 2 to 4 grammar in each unit.
Each unit is divided into “Trainees Talking” (text dialogue), “Trainee’s Turns” (grammar review), and “Target Trainees” (text comprehension). Learners could learn while watching the TV variety shows.
In each unit, the “Trainee’s Turns” allows learners to practice answering questions by playing games together.
Pre-learning sheets, after-class exercises, comprehensive tests and related supplementary contents are provided. Learners could study and review at their own pace.

This “One Day Trainee” is the second volume of the Performing Arts Profession Chinese Course. This course is designed by simulating the training process of artists (female groups/male groups), from casting, elimination, training, and till they launch their first debut, helping overseas Chinese learners interested in performing arts to fast-track their degree programs.

This course adopts “backwards design” and “content and language integrated learning” (CLIL) approaches. With reference to the training process for trainees (pre-debut artists), and through a highly entertaining variety show that simulating the language used in performing arts profession contexts (learning of various street dance movements and music styles in Chinese), as well as the common buzzwords representing youth culture, it is to help learners integrate their expertise into learning context naturally.

The concept of a variety show is used to designed the content of this “One Day Trainee”. The vocabulary in each of the ten units is in line with the vocabulary lists provided by the National Academy for Educational Research (NAER) at Level 3 and Level 4 (in addition to advanced commonly used proper nouns), and there will be 4-6 grammar in each unit. Moreover, 10 different genres theme songs and 10 professional movements are created especially for these ten units. This course integrates language used in performing arts profession training context, so as to enhance learning effectiveness of learners.
Each unit is divided into “Chinese Teaching” (text dialogue), “Vocabulary and Grammar Review” (theme song), “Master on Stage” (dance movement teaching), and “Trainees Wanted” (trainee’s demonstration). Learners could participate naturally in contextual learning while watching the entertaining variety show.
An original “One Day Trainee theme song” is composed in each unit. The composition of different genres pop-songs allowed learners learn the vocabulary and professional knowledge of the unit.
Pre-learning sheets, after-class exercises, One Day Trainee theme song (including lyrics), and supplementary vocabulary lists are provided, so that learners could review after class.
