Inventio is the multidisciplinary undergraduate research journal of The Catholic University of America. It aims to identify and disseminate undergraduate research that best represents the university’s commitment to the academic and Catholic traditions that inform its mission to “discover and impart the truth.” The journal accepts submissions of research in the humanities, theology, philosophy, the arts, and the social sciences written by current students or within two years of their graduation.
Welcome to Inventio, the multidisciplinary undergraduate research journal of The Catholic University of America. Serving students at a national research institution, we are committed to fostering the opportunity for undergraduate students to publish their academic discoveries. Since its founding eleven years ago, Inventio has brought together an impressive group of scholars from a wide variety of backgrounds and disciplines. Inventio identifies and disseminates the highest quality of research that takes place at the undergraduate level at The Catholic University.
Informed by the tradition of The Catholic University, Inventio aids the University’s commitment to discovering truth by publishing outstanding student work. The vast array of degree programs at The Catholic University allows researchers to adopt a spirit of ingenuity and creativity to understand the most profound principles of reality. Embarking from the starting point of wonder, Inventio receives undergraduate research that is fueled by desire and submersed in the richness of particular subject areas. Inventio’s commitment to pursuing the truth is not solely about ideas; to a large extent, it is about persons.

Aristotle famously said, “All men by nature desire to know,” and where better to explore the dangers of our knowledge than in Inventio Volume 10? This volume of Catholic University’s undergraduate research journal brings together commentaries on Pergolesi, the Supreme Court, and the existential role of the small things in your room – thanks, Heidegger! After all this, sit back, relax, and read about how the Beatles shaped the socio-political sphere of the 1960s and how small cultural shifts could help alleviate the fertility crisis in the U.S. All this and more can be discovered in Inventio Volume 10.
