The Research Cell of Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women organized a National Student E-Conference  - Digital Culture: The Paradigm Shift on 14 October 2022.

Mr. Golok Kumar Simli, Chief Technology Officer, Ministry of External affairs, Government of India, the keynote speaker for the day addressed the students on the topic Digital for Larger Public Good. He emphasized the importance and the awareness of digitalization among students. He also briefed on the various advancements and innovations adopted in the passport seva programme in the  Ministry of  Government of India. He encouraged the students to enhance their knowledge on digitalization and also appreciated the efforts taken by the research cell of the College.

Dr. Rajalakshmanan Eswaramoorthy, Professor, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Chennai, the guest speaker of the day briefed the scientific advancements in the field of medicine and how the nation is moving towards smart health care. Dr. I. Kantharaj, Assistant Professor, Jain University, Bengaluru emphasized the importance of industry 4.0 future. Around 51 students from various parts of the country presented their research papers. The best papers were recognized and awarded.

SEMINAR ON PATENT-ROADMAP TOWARDS INVENTION

For every science and technology student or for any inventive mind, there is a possibility of creating a novel product or process. This workshop helps such intellectual minds to identify and protect their intellectual efforts. The Resource Person focused on the inventor/researcher’s perspective with the objective of how to generate a patent. He includes various topics such as copyrights, trademarks, the process and procedure of patenting, etc. The seminar also covered the fundamental principles of patent drafting and discussed in detail the concepts of patent law in the context of patent drafting.

TWO-DAY WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS ON RESEARCH: AN OVERVIEW

Day 1:

Dr.P.Malarvizhi addressed the students and gave guidelines for designing the research process and completion of the work. She also explained about problem-solving methodology in research and its importance in education. The resource person elaborated on writing research articles and how to publish in reputed journals. 60 students from the Arts stream and 75 students from the Science stream participated in the workshop and benefitted.

Day 2 - Mrs.P.Amalthi started the session by emphasizing the need for creative thinking in research. She also discussed the core points for selecting a research topic, performing a literature survey, working on a project, and compiling the results. Activities were conducted during the session. A brief presentation on journal articles, book chapters, patents and review articles were imparted. At the end of the session, a slip test was conducted to enhance students' knowledge about the concept. Overall, 100 students participated in the workshop.
