On account of the 75th Independence Day, it has been decided to organize competitions and activities for all the classes and the responsibility was also given to the students itself in order to improve their leadership qualities and to enlighten the spirit of freedom and independence in the young minds. Based on this the following competitions were conducted by the students of II BCA – B on 25th August 2021 during 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm
Online Riddle Competition
It is an online quiz competition organized by Ms.V.Sharmila. Questions related to Independence Day were chosen and a riddle was designed. Nearly twelve students from this class participated in the riddle.
Integrate India Connections
The Students of III BCA, Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women has prepared a Picture Connections for their class. The main motto of the activity is to promote team building and patriotism among the students on the 75 th Independence Day Celebrations. The activity was conducted through Online in a G Meet Platform on 28th August, 2021.
Around 28 Students from III BCA participated in the event.The PILL group leaders of each group prepared a connection slide related to freedom fighters and freedom struggle without disclosing even to their teammates and other PILL Group leaders.
The activity game was hosted by Shreen Jabeen and the questions were gathered by Sumaiya Fathima from the leaders and finally Nithyashree helped in allotting marks with timer.
The questions were shuffled among the groups and given a chance to answer in 3 minutes. Then it is forwarded to the other groups who raise hands in G Meet first.
At the end of the activity to encourage the students who had participated in Rashtra Gaan - National Anthem Singing, their certificates were displayed as a presentation by the Class In--Charge S.Poornima.
The students learnt the freedom fighters name and identified the connections in an energetic manner.

The Department of Computer Applications organized a two days webinar on “Data Science & its Applications” on August 25, 2021 and “Data Security” on Aug 26, 2021. The Resource Person was Mrs. D. Renuka Devi, MCA., M.Phil., MBA., (Ph.D.), Assistant Professor, Stella Maris College, Chennai. She explained the two areas, types and advantages of Data Science and Security. Around 100 students participated and gained knowledge about Data science and security.

The Departments of Computer Applications organized an International workshop on Java + Android from 20/09/21 to 25/09/21. The Resource Persons were Mr. Prasanth, Industry Expert and Mr. Madhu Kumar, Industry Expert. Participants took keen interest in practical work to acquire hands-on experience in Java programming and Android App development. Around 1200 participants participated from various places across India and received e-certificate.

The Department of Computer Applications organized an interdepartmental workshop on Google sites on 24/09/2021 & 25/09/2021. The Resource Person was Mrs. K Jaganeshwari, Head, Assistant professor, Department of Computer Applications. Participants learned how to create websites from Google sites and to create websites with collaborators by giving another Google user 'edit' access. They acquired hands-on experience in Google Sites. Around 25 participants participated from the Departments of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Computer Applications and were awarded e-certificates.

The Department of Computer Applications organized an interdepartmental Online Quiz Competition to celebrate Google’s Birthday on 27/09/2021. Word wall net App was used to conduct the online quiz. Questions were taken based on “Know about Google on Google’s Birthday”. Around 60 participants participated from the Departments of Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry. E-certificates were provided for the top Four winners.

The Department of Computer Applications organized a webinar on “Machine Learning using Python” on October 18, 2021 The Resource Person of the day was Ms. E. Valli, MCA, M.Phil., Tech Mentor & Programming Trainer – NIIT, Chennai. She elaborated and demonstrated how machine learning helps the computer systems that provide sense to data in much the same way as human beings do, in simple words. Around 100 students participated and gained knowledge about Machine Learning using Python.

The Department of Computer Applications organised an E-Career Training Programme on “Technical & Communication Skills” on 23.12.2021. The resource persons of the workshop were Mrs. G. Hemavathy, Operation Head, FIIT Formation Pvt. Ltd. The resource person focused on the technical Interview, Resume Preparation, How to face HR rounds, tips to prepare for Aptitude, Group Discussion-do’s and don'ts, online courses to enhance skills and importance of skill development in getting jobs post-pandemic. Around 50 students from the Department of Computer Applications participated in this Training Programme.

The Department of Computer Applications, in association with Aspire for Her organized an E-Career Training Programme on “GOOGLE PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION” on 21.01.2022. The resource persons were Mrs. Neeraja Ganesh, Mentor and Consultant, Aspire for Her and Mrs. Jacintha Jayachandran, Speaker, Coach and Author. The resource persons focused on the online courses to enhance skills and the importance of Google Professional Certification. The programme was envisaged to help the students in recognizing their present level of skills and help them in enhancing their potential. Also, the programme focused on personal growth, interpersonal effectiveness and skills that are vital for placement and career growth. Around 120 students participated in this Training Programme.

As a measure and means to improve the interest of students in reading books, the department arranged a trip to the book fair organized in the YMCA ground, Nandanam on March 4, 2022. Advanced learners from each class were taken on this trip in order to expose them to all kinds of books in various subjects. Students enjoyed this trip and they got some ideas regarding books and a few of them purchased books of their own interest.

As a part of Institutional Social Responsibility, a workshop was conducted on March 10, 2022 for select students of Government Higher Secondary School, Manali, Chennai. The Workshop Topic was "Tally ERP9" and it was conducted by Mrs. C Kausalya Devi, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Computer Applications. Students actively participated and enthusiastically listened to the session. Individual system was given to each student for practicing tally ERP 9. The entire session was conducted using ICT Tools, which aids them to practise easily. At the end of the session, they gave positive feedback and the certificates were distributed.

Suresh Babu, Professor, Department of Information Technology, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (Hindustan University), Padur, Chennai, He gave an excellent coverage on Artificial Intelligence & how it is going to impact `the future of virtually every industry and every human being'. Nearly 150 students attended the Seminar.

An internship helps the students to train under experienced professionals and explore what they have chosen career path would be like, and an internship with a company in the parent field can help the student to develop the skills they need to thrive in a professional setting.

The Students of II BCA underwent a training on NMEICT Spoken Tutorials on “Drupal” organized at Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women by Mrs. NALINI K.P with course material provided by the Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay. Passing an online exam, conducted on March 21, 2022 remotely from IIT Bombay, is a prerequisite for completing this training.
Mrs. Kalaivani C from Chevalier T. Thomas Elizabeth College for Women invigilated this examination. This training is offered by the Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay.

The study aimed at studying various aspects of Environmental Sciences. The study adopted a survey, observation, assessment of field trip report. The field trip enhanced their knowledge and better equipped the students in their Course on Environmental studies.

The Department of Computer Applications in association with NSS organised an “Awareness Programme on First Aid & Life Saving Techniques” on 28th April, 2022. The resource persons of the day were Mr. Piraivalavan, Divisional Commander, St. John’s Ambulance Brigade, Chennai and his team. To promote awareness among stakeholders, including college teachers and students, the resource persons focused on the conservation of lives and property during natural or man-made disasters. Also, they addressed the issues such as floods, hurricanes, fires, mass failure of utilities, rapid spread of disease and droughts. They explained how to give First aid during an emergency to an injured person, for heart patients and children. They emphasised that the purpose of first aid is always to minimize injury and future disability. In serious cases, first aid may be necessary to keep the victim alive.
Under this model, II BCA ‘A’ section students as a whole were involved in Participatory / Collaborative Learning where the PILL groups of this class were converted into cooperative groups which will help them to succeed as a team by providing their individual contributions to the team. Under this model, each and every cooperative group will think about a FOSS selected by them, discuss with their fellow team members about the history, evolution and important concepts of the FOSS and explain the same to everybody through powerpoint presentations, lectures, charts, posters, skits, role plays, quizzes, games or any other interesting activities.

The Department of Computer Applications organized an Industrial Visit to Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai on 5.5.2022, 6.5.2022 and 9.5.2022. Students acquired knowledge about weather forecasting and the technologies used behind this and they were given exposure to new Radar technology, Geographical Information System, Global Positioning System (GPS), Satellite Navigation System and Satellite Communication, as well as computer models that run on more powerful supercomputers. Also, they were shown live demos on an anemometer, double Stevenson screen, thermometer and rain gauge. Students also visited different types of monuments of ancient granite pillars which were used by the meteorological department. 153 students and 5 staff members went on this Industrial visit.

The resource person of the day was Mr. Thiruvengadam Arumugam JP, Senior IT Engineer by profession, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals Ltd, New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
The resource person focused on the reopening of international travel to students, Support for international students, Australian strategy for international education, International education engagement, Regulation information, Resources for providers in supporting students' eligibility requirements and skill based migration. The programme was envisaged to help them in enhancing their potential. The session gives awareness to the students to choose the right career path based on their educational and professional choices.
The programme also focused on personal growth, interpersonal effectiveness and skills that are vital for placement and career growth. Students clarified their queries in the interactive Q&A session with the resource person. Around 200 students participated in this Training Programme.

The Department of Computer Applications organized an International Panel Discussion on “Robotics in human life” on 30/05/2022 at 1 pm.
The panel was enriched by four distinguished and eminent speakers in the field of Robotics. They were: Speaker 1 - Dr. Mayank Mathur, The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester, UK. Speaker 2 - Dr. S. Shanthi, Principal, Care Engineering College, Trichy. Speaker 3 - Mr. Arun Kumar Natarajan, Process Automation Specialist, FLSmidth and Speaker 4 - Mr. Praveen Kumar, Co-founder, Vbind Innovations, Chennai.
Dr. Mayank Mathur focused on the areas of Robotics in Medical Care and surgery. He emphasized the usage of Robotics in Saving human life in various traumas. This helped the students to understand the societal use and life saving cause of “Robotics in Human Life”.
Dr. S. Shanthi focused on the Research areas in Robotics and the influence of Artificial Intelligence in the workplace, she also explained about the robotics in research areas related to medical technologies enabled robots. She helped the students to understand the concept of Neural Networks and Machine Learning as the early stage of understanding the technologies. She showed a live demo of Da vinci Surgical Robot systems and how it has been used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis and Physiotherapy.
Mr. Arun Kumar Natarajan started his discussion by explaining about the RPA (Robotic Process Automation), where Robots is used in business, benefits of RPA, how humans and robots are bonded here - Cohesions of human and bot, who provides the RPA solutions. He explained clearly as to What is RPA and What is not RPA? He also showed a live demonstration of a chatbot prepared by him which taught students about the vision of Automation with respect to business and finance. At the end in the Q & A Session the students asked various questions related to the future of RPA and resources available to biome an RPA Specialist.
Mr. Praveen Kumar explained how robotics are used in humans for day to day activities, then dived into a completely practical session with the students, he showed a microcontroller and 8236 & 8246 microprocessor, Arduino kits. He explained how a robot is used in ICT ward beds to monitor the patients. He showed a live video of a humanoid developed for elderly people using various sensors such as ultrasound, camera objects, and how it speaks & replies to the comments. He further explained the 3D printing technologies and 20 Kg Drone to carry various ICE boxes, drugs and organs and Home Automation Assistance systems. He also explained the Prosthetic hands and legs for the disabled using 3D modelled printers, Web Applications, IoT Applications, etc.
The students discussed with the panel members and asked various questions related to robotics. The entire panel discussion was an intense motivation and inspiration for the students to know about the various fields of Robotics in Human Life.
