The aim of the Henry Abbott Technical High School School Counseling Department is to promote student's academic, career, social and emotional growth in accordance with district, state and national standards. Our Student Support Services address individual student needs to enhance learning and address classroom engagement. Our team strives to collaborate with the community to develop productive, resourceful and responsible citizens within our communities.
Our Counseling Department consists of four counselors who provide individual and group guidance and counseling in career/vocational, educational, and personal/social areas based on the developmental needs of the students by:
Assisting students in Career Technology and academic course selections.
Assisting students in adjusting to a technical high school, addressing student challenges and discussing coping skills.
Working with students individually to develop their Post-Secondary plan.
Collaborating with parents, staff and outside agencies, if necessary
Collaborating with the Planning and Placement Team and the Student Assistance Team.
Being 504 Case Managers.
Providing individual counseling as needed. Our Counseling Department also consists of two full-time School Psychologists who consult with parents, staff, and community agencies regarding the psychological needs of students as they relate to their educational program. Our psychologists meet with students individually or in group counseling sessions to assist students whose problems are interfering with their education. In addition, our School Psychologists are 504 case managers and the Student Assistance Team coordinator.
