How to get IDs: get new one/swipe card?
Our secretary Ms.Snow or Sandeep Tiberwal in the main office will be able to assist you
If you lose your swipe card, our business manager Annette Segarra (located in the business office) will be able to assist. You need to report this ASAP.
What is the school fax machine/interoffice mail (CO- Central Office paperwork)?
Both are located in the school business office (across the hall from the main office). Both are located to the left as you walk in.

Where are the filtered water fountains?
There are three filtered water fountains. One is in the hallway as you enter the gym (by the girls locker room, other ones list here. Please be mindful that classes are going on in the gym, and to only send one student at a time to minimize distractions
AEP tutors and how to apply?
They are teachers who tutor students outside of school hours for a multitude of reasons. Administration will send out an email when an AEP tutor is needed. This is an hourly paid position.

School counselor vs social workers vs school psychologists:
Social workers and school psychologists typically have designated students in which they work with, and you usually send students to their designated grade level counselors (unless they are all busy). Regardless of who you are reaching out to, please call down/ write a pass first. Encourage students to make an appointment through email/ParentSquare with their designated counselor if it is not an emergency.

What to do and what should I expect on snow days/ emergency closures?
Check the news- sign up for alerts for Bridgeport Public Schools. If they are closed, we typically are as well (but there are exceptions). Please check your email and ParentSquare for confirmation.
What is choir practice?
It is an “after school staff activity” that typically happens on Fridays at a location close to Bullard-Havens. Feel free to ask a staff member about the location :) It is a great way to get to know everyone!
Parent communication
Teachers typically communicate mainly through the app “ParentSquare”. Please make sure to set up an account at the beginning of the year, for this is the main line of communication between staff (besides email). Parent communication is crucial: other forms are email (Bullard email only), Google classroom, phone.
Good news cards:
These are cards that the school makes and typically gives them to you at the beginning of the year in your mailbox (but you can always request more in the office). This is a postcard that you as the teacher writes to the students’ homes in order to communicate something GOOD that the student is doing. (Make sure to take a picture of it to save for the end of the year form). You can look up the student’s address on PowerSchool (or ask their counselor), and send it through the mail in the business office (they will provide the stamp…just put it in the “no stamps bin”).
What is the Monday memo?
It is an email with an attachment (usually a Google Document) that gets sent out each week (usually Sunday evenings) about important dates, meetings/events, staff duties (who has detention and bus duty), or announcements. It is a glimpse into what you need to know for the upcoming week. It is crucial to read these.
Technology platforms (Google classroom, powerschool/gradebook…etc):
Parent and Staff communication:
ParentSquare is the “go to” for communication here. Make sure to download it on your phone to get updates about inclement weather, traffic updates, important school announcements, etc.
What is PowerTeacher gradebook and how do you use it?
This is used for inputting/storing grades, as well as recording student attendance, and accessing student demographics/information (tells you their overall grades, medical alerts, plans, etc.) Make sure to update your grades in PowerSchool on a weekly basis at least! If you need help with setting up a gradebook, ask your team or Tracy Ganino.

What is parent square and how do I log in and use it?
Parentsquare is a tool to communicate with students and parents. You will be a account to login. If you are having trouble, please reach out.
What is Google Classroom?
This is typically the main platform for student assignments. Each student has a chromebook that they are expected to have in class and charged every day (if they are unprepared, the library has “loaners” (call ahead/email first). If you are unsure on how to use/set up google classroom, please ask
How do I fill out an ELR ( Electronic Leave Request)/AESOPS?
When you will be out the next day and did not plan on this, you can use your logon to frontline to access the AESOPS site and put in you lesson plan and time. If you are not sure with is also email you department head and principal if you cannot make it to school as soon as possible.

Where can I find the protocols for fire drills and evacuation drills?
Here is a link to the procedures. They are usually emailed to us at the beginning of the year (an “Emergency” red folder is given to us). Or, they are in our welcome back packets that are emailed/mailed to us prior to the beginning of the school year. Most routes are already placed in the "Red Folder", found by the doors of each classroom.
How do I call out for…Family sick days/occurrences?
Calling out (sick/family sick, etc.): AESOP (frontline).
Use AESOP to call out/select how you want to code your absence. Upload plans (you may want to include in an email lesson plans to your team).
If you are submitting an ELR (If you are leaving early)for 4 hours or more, you MUST also upload plans and teacher notes in AESOP. This needs to be done by 6:30am.
An ELR (Early Leave Request) is when you know you will be out (ex. Personal day). This is done through a SEPERATE link.

What do I need to do for detention and bus duty?
Detention Duty: Report to the SAIL room, have students sign in and have them stay in the room until the designated time set for them. Students are to be working on something, they should not be talking, and they cannot be on their phones (no headphones either). They are not allowed to sleep.
Bus Duty: This will be communicated to you in the welcome back packet at the beginning of the year (same with Detention Duty), as well as on the Monday Memos. You will have to report the designated location (you will be told where to go), immediately following dismissal until the buses leave. Please monitor student behavior/report anything suspicious immediately to the security officers/troopers.
What is the Tiger Social Club?
It is a club for the staff in order to participate in staff events (ex. Holiday parties), or fundraising opportunities for staff members (ex. Baby, Marriage, Sympathy gifts). You pay a very small fee one time to be a part of the club, and this includes discounted prices on certain events held throughout the year.
