What happens when I need my Chromebook repaired?
If you need to have your Chromebook repaired, you can see any staff in the library media center to submit a ticket to have it fixed. Region 14's insurance policy covers one accidental damage per school year. This is the process when you turn your Chromebook in to be fixed:
Bring the damaged Chromebook to the library media center. Fill out a Service Request and tape it to the cover. Your Chromebook will be sent to the Technology Department and a loaner Chromebook will be issued.
The Technology Department contacts Dell to determine whether or not the damage is covered by insurance.
Mrs. Flaherty will email a letter to your parents/guardians. This letter alerts them to the problem and lets them know the cost (even if $0.00).
Can I receive a loaner Chromebook?
At NHS, the LMC maintains a limited supply of loaner Chromebooks. Priority is given to students with damaged devices out for repair. While students are expected to bring their Chromebooks to school each day, we understand that occasionally a student may forget to charge or bring their Chromebook to school. We have a limited number of loaners for this purpose and cannot guarantee a loaner will be available.
What are the policies for chargers?
Chargers are not given out during the day if your Chromebook is not charged. Students can leave their Chromebook in the media center to charge and/or use a loaner in the meantime, provided there are loaners still available.
If students believe his/her charger is no longer working, it should be brought to the LMC. If the charger is indeed broken it will be replaced, free of charge, as long as the damaged charger is returned.
If I lose the Chromebook or charger, how much does it cost?
The price of the Chromebook is $330.00. The price of the charger is $37.00.
