Welcome to our Photography Unit! Although we will only be spending one unit on the principles of photography, you'll soon find that the same terms and concepts are universal across most art mediums! If this unit sparks your interest, please keep building your portfolio! The more thoughtful photos you take, the sooner you develop your voice as an artist.
"But I take pictures all the time!" Does that make you a photographer? Does it make you an artist? We will be discussing the difference between someone who takes pictures and a photographer- and how you can build your eye and intention behind the camera.

Balance: Rule of Odds
Did you know that you can take photos with your CHROMEBOOK? It may not be the most convenient method - but it works!
Our unit will be geared towards using the camera feature on your phone - but keep me informed as to how you're doing if you are using your Chromebook to take your photos.
FILTER? APP? EDITING?
I know that Snapchat (and other) filters are all the rage - but in order to really develop your skill as a photographer, you need to learn how to capture moments WITHOUT filters. Be prepared to share and upload UNFILTERED photos so we can study crucial elements and principles at play.
If you're interested in playing with photography apps, here are some that can be useful:
Snapseed (free!)
Big Lens
Camera+
Obscura
ProCamera
Afterlight
Pocket Light Meter
Faded
VSCO (filters)
