Meaningful transformation is an ongoing process that requires time, collaboration, and a clear focus on developing our educators' capabilities. And Thomas has been going through a lot of important changes in the last few years.
We can all see that the rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents both opportunities and challenges for us educators. So, our aim with Vision 2030 is to develop ourselves with the knowledge and skills necessary to harness AI effectively, ensuring we can continue creating enriching learning experiences that inspire and engage our students.
Create and consolidate an organizational CLIMATE and CULTURE in which TRUST is esential, RISK TAKING is nurtured, and LEARNERS come FIRST. Think of culture as the water in which we swim together. The better the quality of the water, the richer the life it supports. To that effect, all Thomas leaders (Course Designers, Branch Management, and other members of the Academic staff) will purposefully commit to nurturing and exercising EFFECTIVE CHANGE LEADERSHIP by MODELLING positive AI use, via the CONSISTENT follow through of learning and strategies to make change possible and sustainable, as well as by being transparent and RELATIONSHIP FOCUSED.
Teachers are also LEADERS. They will be called to engage early on in the program, for they will play a critical role in the design process of VISION 2030's COLLECTIVE learning path.
Zoom in the necessary MINDSET for all members of our learning community to drive and engage in meaningful and relevant PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT opportunities. This stage of the program is the cultivation period, planting the seeds of change and tending to the seedlings. At his stage, at least 80% of its teachers reach the “Acquire” level in the first four aspects of UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework for Teachers: Human-centered mindset, Ethics of AI, AI foundations and applications, and AI pedagogy. Simultaneously, 100% of the institution’s course designers will complete both the Acquire and Deepen levels, equipping them to craft AI-enhanced learning experiences and support teacher development through innovative curriculum design and mentorship.
SHARED ACCOUNTABILITY is another VISION 2030 core value. Everyone, regardless of their organizational role, will commit to learning and helping others in their learning, according to their level of expertise. Learning opportunities and support will be offered and scaffolded for all.
2030 Major Focus: Achievement of VISION 2030 goal
Here we thrive and harvest the benefits of having a strong ethical and human-centerd approach to Gen AI or any other technology with 50% of Casa Thomas Jefferson’s teachers to the “Deepen” level across the same four core aspects of AI competency. At this stage, educators will demonstrate the ability to design and implement meaningful, ethical, and inclusive AI-integrated pedagogical strategies. Teachers will be able to critically assess AI tools, embed them thoughtfully into classroom practices, and facilitate student-centered, inquiry-based learning environments. Additionally, course designers will take on an expanded role in training fellow educators and leading in-service presentations, contributing to a collaborative, forward-thinking teaching community that models ethical and transformative AI use in education.
