Crew stay, eat and sleep in station when not on calls.
We operate both at the ALS (Advanced Life Saving) Paramedic and BLS (Basic Life Saving) EMT levels.
We have three crews staffing ambulances daily. Two at out Main station in Johnstown and one at our Windber station.
We answer calls ranging from Electrical hazards and odor investigations Vehicle accidents, Sick persons and Cardiac arrests and so much more!
Crews are not "set", therefore insuring everyone works well together to get the job done.
We don't have specific "ambulance drivers" Everyone takes their turn!
We don't like to be called "Ambulance drivers" as our job is so much more than that.
We do limited non emergency transports on an as needed basis for members.
We do EMS stand-by for our local football teams as well as various walks for charity, Windber Miners Day Weekend, Wings and Waves among others.
We work hard everyday to maintain the safety of not only our patients but most importantly ourselves. "If we don't stay safe, we can't help our patients!"
EMS can be very a "stressful" job but also a very "rewarding" job as we are always "saving lives".
Everyday is different, Every call is different and every plan of treatment is different.
EMS is a dying profession but with an ever growing need for emergency medical services everywhere.
The demand for EMT's and Paramedics is higher than ever! We need you!!!!
