Upload a photo for your J-Card.
A J-Card is the official Johns Hopkins University identification card. It serves as your student ID, library card, building access card, and can be used for a variety of services across the university.
Funds can be added to your J-Card to use printers at School of Education locations. The card may also be used to access buildings on the Homewood campus and receive student discounts at participating businesses.
It's your ID. It's your library card. It's your key. It's your J-Card.
Login to my.JH
Select your JHED ID in the top right corner
Select "myProfile" from the list
Follow directions to login
Select "Upload New Photo"
Select "Choose File" to locate the photo you'd like to upload
Select "Upload Photo"
Once received, your photo will be submitted to an approval queue. You will see a Pending Approval status for up to 3 business days. Once approved, your uploaded photo will appear.
Your J-Card will be available for pick-up prior to the start of the semester.
Check-in with the Office of International Services (OIS).
The Office of International Services (OIS) assists international students, scholars, researchers, clinicians, staff and faculty with visas and immigration.
It is important for students to review the information found on the OIS website.
All individuals whose visa status is sponsored by JHU are required to check-in with the Office of International Services upon arrival to the respective campus. In most cases, the check-in process will be completed online.

Newly admitted students will be contacted by email regarding the check-in process.
Add emergency contact information to the Student Information System (SIS).
The Student Information System (SIS) is used by students for viewing and conducting transactions for registration, billing, and personal information.
It is important for the University to have an emergency contact for you, in a case of emergency. Please enter this information in SIS.

Go to the Education category
Select "SIS"
Go to the Personal Info tab
Select "Emergency Contact"
Enter required information
Select "Save"
Complete the mandatory Pre-Entrance Health Requirements.
Johns Hopkins University requires all students and learners to meet immunization requirements to ensure a healthy campus environment. Please ensure that you submit your immunization information through your myHealth portal.

Download the Non-Clinical Health Form for Students and follow all directions listed for submission

Register for classes.
Register for your ITGL courses as soon as your registration window opens and the ITGL Cohort Registration document becomes available.
The ITGL Cohort Registration document contains the list of courses and class numbers needed for registration based on your focus area. Please note that the document will not be posted until after the deposit deadline has passed.

Login to my.JH
Go to the Education category
Select "SIS"
Go to the Registration tab
Select "My Cart" from the list
Select the appropriate semester
Enter the class number(s) from the ITGL Cohort Registration document
Select the "Add to Cart" button
Repeat this process for each class
Review your classes
Select the box after each class
Select the "Register" button
Select Letter Grade
Select "Continue"
Look up and purchase your textbooks.

Select the "book" icon next to the search bar
Confirm that the correct Program and Term are displayed.
Under Shop by Course, enter the Department, Course, and Section for one of your registered classes
Repeat the process until all of your courses have been entered
Select "Find Materials for # Course(s)"
Review the My Course Materials page to view the required and recommended textbooks and materials for each course
Select the materials you wish to purchase and follow the checkout instructions provided
Complete the online SOE Student Orientation.
Complete the online SOE Student Orientation to gain access to your courses in Canvas, JHU’s learning management system.
You must be registered for courses to view the online SOE Student Orientation course.
Log in to Canvas
You will see SOE Student Orientation on your Dashboard.
You are required to complete a pre-module overview and three modules:
Module I: SOE and University Requirements
Module II: Online Learning & Technology Resources
Module III: Canvas
If you are unable to see the SOE Student Orientation in your course list, this indicates that you have not officially registered for courses in SIS.
Pick up your J-Card.
One of your first tasks was uploading a photo for your J-Card so that it would be ready when you arrive in Baltimore. Prior to the start of classes, please be sure to pick up your J-Card.
Visit the J-Card Office during business hours.
Present a valid form of identification, if requested.
Pick up your J-Card prior to the start of classes.

It is important for the University to have a local Maryland address and U.S. phone number to reach you . Please enter this information in SIS once you arrive here in Maryland.

Under Contact Information select "Edit" next to Permanent Phone
Enter required information - this should be your U.S. phone number - not an international phone number
Select the blue check
Under Address Information select "Add" next to Local
Enter required information - this should be a local Maryland address
Select "Save"
Send to our SOE Admissions Office an official, final transcript indicating your degree conferral.
Questions about your final transcripts should be directed to the Office of Admissions (soe.admissions@jhu.edu). All ITGL students who were Admitted with Requirements must send final transcripts to SOE as soon as possible after your degree is conferred. When you send your official, final transcript with confirmation of your degree conferral, you must follow the same procedures you followed when you sent your initial transcript:
If during your application process you ordered a course-by-course evaluation, you would have your final documentation sent to the same evaluating agency and request an updated evaluation be sent to the School of Education Office of Admissions.
If you have now graduated from a US institution, you would order another transcript that has the degree conferral statement on it. The Office of Admissions accepts certified electronic transcripts directly from issuing institutions by email to soe.admissions@jhu.edu, or you may request your official transcripts to be mailed to the following address:
