Expand the diversity through health promotion and care to develop innovation continuously

In 1970’s the lack of medical care, the Catholic church based on social needs, has set up a hospital and the school to "Respecting God and loving ones" as the school motto. Education aims to "application of science and technology, cultivation to respect God and loving ones of nursing and health professionals ". Positioning as to "develop health care and health promotion and providing for the field and nurture talents". In hope that the students will be equipped with good professional knowledge, moral character and strong belief in the future, so as to demonstrate the educational profound purpose and school running concept.

According to the educational purpose, SWOT analysis, internal and external resource conditions, social trends, students' parents' expectations and so on, five goals and 28 strategies are formulated to achieve the goal of sustainable development of the school. Social responsibility is the first and foremost of the five goals of the university, which is to respond to the needs of society from the perspective of health promotion and health care development. In 2020, the Executive Yuan announced that the top priority for Taiwan society in the next ten years would be the care of the elderly society to provide security is government’s administrative main focus. Our school has made a long-establishing efforts for the elderly and infants. We have set up a kindergarten and after-school child care center in Xindian campus, and run 9 infant related institutions entrusted by Taipei Metro Area, a total of 11 institutions, providing professional care for more than 500 children every year. Yilan Campus actively provides services to the elderly, including serving five senile centers in SanXing Township, setting up a training base for senile service personnel, and opening cross-field training courses for senile service personnel, etc. It has been approved to set up a comprehensive long term care facility, which began to invest in local community since August 2011.

Although we are a junior college, the collaboration of teachers and students' in the sustainable campus and local service have shown a breath of fresh air and deeply recognized in all levels. Including Environmental Education Merit Award, Green Public Procurement Merit Unit, National Resource Recycling Golden Award, and the bronze medal of the 13th Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards(TCSA) in 2020.

In the recent years, USR and USR Hub have received nearly 10 million funding from the Ministry of Education every year to implement local services. With the SDGs issues in the direction of local care, health promotion, industrial chain and sustainable environment, the teacher-student collaboration and social participation will help solving local issues. It is particularly worth mentioning that in the agricultural waste recycling economy program, fully utilized the rice barn which transformed into rice barn series skin care products. Distilled rice bran wine has won the golden medal award, Monde Selection and SFWSC, which will promote the local high-quality products to the international arena. That said, it will improve the income situation of the farmers and bring back young generation to return home.

Social Responsibility and Sustainability Report(USR) has stated in detail the efforts and determination of the school to implement its social responsibility, and put the school philosophy of respecting God and loving others in practice. Adherence of the spirit is to "cherish self - from self-abandonment to progress, cherish others - from indifference to care, cherish all things - from destruction to respect, cherish God - from alienation to dependence". At every moment of our life, we will elevate the life value of every one from CTCN, take the social responsibility of every life course to make all better!
