Homework Plan
Quiet, Consistent Workspace Choose a quiet place free from distractions where you can do your nightly assignments. Keep supplies (pencils, paper, calculator, reading book) nearby so you can begin work quickly. Aim to work in the same spot each day to build a routine.
When Homework Is Due
Most homework should be completed and returned the following day.
Some assignments may be given as packets with a specific due date; follow the date on the packet.
If you cannot finish homework on time, have a parent/guardian write a short note explaining why. We will work together to find a solution.
You may also have the chance to complete incomplete assignments during class time.
Purpose of Homework
Homework helps you practice and strengthen skills that were taught in class. It also helps you develop responsibility and prioritize tasks. Over time, homework shows growth—keep completed work to review progress and celebrate improvements.
Types of Homework You May Receive
Reading / Language Arts
Reading homework will usually come home nightly. Return reading materials and any responses the next day.
Practice reading, explore print, and enjoy books—reading practice is essential for growth.
Spelling
Spelling homework may vary nightly or be assigned as a packet to finish before a test.
Spelling tests and formats may change week to week; check the assignment for specifics.
Math
Math homework will usually be nightly practice pages.
Daily practice builds skills you use in real life—measuring, following recipes, budgeting, and more.
Tips for Students
Start with the hardest task first, when your focus is best.
Break larger assignments into small steps and set short goals (e.g., 20–30 minutes per step).
Use a planner or calendar to record due dates and packet deadlines.
Ask for help if you don’t understand directions—email, a quick note, or ask when you return to class.
Review graded homework to see mistakes and learn from them.
Tips for Parents

Check that reading materials and completed work return to school daily.
Write a brief note if your child cannot complete an assignment on time.
Celebrate effort and improvement; small rewards or praise help build motivation.
