Both English 9 and Honors English 9 will explore a variety of novels, short stories, poems, and other influential and important aspects of reading, writing, and literature. The students will be expected to complete various reading and writing assignments throughout the school year.
Teaching Philosophy
I am not a strong proponent of homework, but when it is occasionally assigned, I expect students to complete the assignment thoroughly and on-time.
I do not believe in accepting late assignments for full-credit and if an assignment is turned in late, the result will be a loss of points (of course there are exceptions - life happens).
Students who are absent from school will be given sufficient time to make-up the work which has been missed.
I believe in a student-centered classroom where students will have many opportunities to collaborate with one another, think independently, and participate in classroom discussions.
My main goal is to guide students toward a successful path not only in English class, but also toward any future endeavors and goals they aim to achieve down the road.
