English 11 will explore a variety of novels, short stories, poems, and other influential and important aspects of reading and writing with a focus on American literature. The students will be expected to complete various reading and writing assignments throughout the school year along with career and future goals in mind.
Teaching Philosophy
I am not a strong proponent of homework, but when it is occasionally assigned, I expect students to complete the assignment thoroughly and on-time.
I do not believe in accepting late assignments for full-credit and if an assignment is turned in late, the result will be a loss of points (of course there are exceptions - life happens).
Students who are absent from school will be given sufficient time to make-up the work which has been missed.
I believe in a student-centered classroom where students will have many opportunities to collaborate with one another, think independently, and participate in classroom discussions.
My main goal is to guide students toward a successful path not only in English class, but also toward any future endeavors and goals they aim to achieve down the road.
