Academic Integrity. Your work in this class will depend on your academic and personal integrity. Academically, you will be working independently as well as on a team. Any work you submit individually should be your own and not copied from any source. If you need help with citing others’ work in your own writing, please ask me. Also, check out this website on how to avoid plagiarism. In addition, you’re expected to fully contribute to the team’s work. Work submitted as part of a team should include the contributions of all team members. Please communicate with me if this is not the case. I will work with your team and we will determine how to move forward. Click here for further information on the campus’s academic integrity policy.
Our research will depend on your integrity to not share the results of any individual we observe or interview. We will share the results in aggregate being careful not to identify any person. If you violate this rule then you will jeopardize CSUMB’s and my reputation in the community. Further we may be sanctioned by campus as well as the state or federal government because the research rules are sanctioned by the federal government.
Late work. All work is due by the due date and time. There is no penalty for late work. However, if you turn in more than 1-2 assignments late it will affect the team’s work. We are all counting on each other to stay on target. Please communicate with us if you are having issues with the internet, time management, your daily writing practice, or your mental health. We are here to support each other.
Incompletes. Students can request an incomplete in the course if they become ill or have to care for someone who has become ill and cannot complete the final paper. They will have up to 1 year to complete the final paper. See this link for the university’s policy on incompletes and other grading situations.
Grade Appeal. You have the right to appeal your grade if you feel it was administered capriciously. Click here to read the campus policy.
Disability Services. Students with disabilities who require accommodations such as time extensions or alternate media/format must present current verification from Student Disability Resources as soon as possible. Please schedule an appointment to discuss specifics with me. If you think a disability may impact your performance in this class, meet with SDR professional staff in the Health and Wellness Services, Building #80. Contact SDR: (831) 582 - 3672 or Email: student_disability_resources@csumb.edu
Assessment of student work campus-wide. CSUMB is committed to providing excellent and innovative curricula and educational opportunities to its students. To help us maintain quality academic offerings and to conform to institutional and professional accreditation requirements, the University and its programs regularly evaluate student work to assess student achievement of learning outcomes. CSUMB obtains, evaluates, and retains samples of student work from designated assignments in representative courses. This work includes, but is not limited to, papers, exams, creative works, recordings of oral presentations, or portfolios developed and submitted in courses or to satisfy the requirements for degree programs. Instructor and student names will not appear in any assessment results and assessment results will have no impact on student grades, instructor evaluations, or instructor employment. I have a consent form that I will ask you to review and sign (if you agree).
Veterans. "Veterans, active duty military personnel with special circumstances (e.g., upcoming deployments, drill requirements, disabilities) are welcome and encouraged to communicate these, in advance if possible, to me." You will find more helpful information in the VA campus toolkit at http://mentalhealth.va.gov/studentveteran/
