How Abigail Adams shaped modern day feminism
Abigail Adams truly treaded a path for women that is still being followed today. After she passed, her voice was passed along with others which slowly led to wins for women throughout the years. In 1848, the Married Womens Property Act was passed which did allow married women the right to own property. Years after that happened, in 1919, the 19th Amendment made its way to be passed which as well allowed women the right to vote.
Even though this happened after she passed, I truly believe her courageous acts during the revolutionary war and especially as a first lady, it opened doors for other women to voice their strong opinions. Abigail Adams knew there was so much more than to being a housewife and she fought hard for what she believed in which truly inspired others to this day to speak up for what is right. Unfortunately, there are still men out in the world that still have the mindset that women are useless, but behind every man is a woman who has changed his life for the best.
