Research in the Sommerhalter Lab focuses on the purification and characterization of enzymes (e.g., acetylcholinesterase, glutathione-S-transferase, polyphenol oxidase) from their natural sources, including a marine gastropod which serves as a model organism in neurobiology (-> sea slug enzymes). We also characterize the biochemical stress response of plants exposed to saline irrigation (-> plants and salinity stress).
