The synchronous courses for a licensure program are three (3) graduate credits each and eight weeks long. The asynchronous internship courses are a total of six (6) credits and are a semester in length. The Ed.S. Educational Leadership Degree at Concordia University is 30 credits.
The Ed.S. degree also includes completing a capstone digital portfolio (zero credits) required for graduation and administrator licensure. The Ed.S. degree also includes a situational observation panel interview (zero credits) required for graduation and administrator licensure. The situational observation panel interview is the last activity in the Ed.S. Educational Leadership Degree Administrator Licensure Program.
The Ed.S. Educational Leadership Administrator Licensure Degree includes a fall or spring start. The program is typically 17 to 24 months in length, depending on when a student starts the internship portion of the licensure program after completing the second course in the licensure program of study.
The EDU7001 through EDU7008 courses involve seven synchronous sessions over the course of a single term. Two courses are completed during a single semester.
The internship portion of the administrator licensure program must meet all department, university, and Minnesota Administrator Rule 3512 expectations and requirements for an Ed.S. Education Leadership Degree and be eligible to apply for an administrator license.
Information about the internship portion of the administrator licensure program is provided in the Internship Handbook. Be sure you are referencing the most current version of the handbook. It is updated frequently to ensure students are meeting expectations and requirements for graduation and licensure eligibility.
