Jhongshan Junior High School was established in September 1957, initially known as "Tainan Municipal Girls' Junior High School." In 1968, Taiwan implemented nine years of compulsory education, and the school's name was changed to "Tainan Municipal Jhong-shan Junior High School," maintaining its policy of admitting only female students. In 1984, dance talent classes were established. In 2008, the school opened its doors to male students. In 2012, sports classes were introduced, featuring basketball, track and field, and volleyball teams.
