Our team works collaboratively to provide services that meet the needs of our scholars and families. We seek to provide student-centered support in the areas of academia, social/emotional, and college and career readiness.
The Counseling department hopes to promote and nurture student success by preparing our scholars with the necessary resources and skills throughout their time at CSE and afterward.
The counseling team can help families and students with:
Anxiety, Stress, Anger, Friendships, Forming Healthy Relationships, Behavioral, Coping Strategies, Community Resources, Schedules, College & Career, etc.
It’s important to communicate with the school when your child is going to be absent. Inform the school about barriers to attendance and we will do our best to work with you and your child.
Missing less than nine days of school each year helps students to stay engaged, experience success in their schoolwork and keep on track to graduate on time.
Attending school regularly beginning in Preschool and Kindergarten will help students to:
Gain early reading and math skills
Build relationships
Develop good attendance habits throughout your student’s school career
Frequent absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with schoolwork, school anxiety, struggling with a peer, or facing some other difficulty. Reach out to your student's teacher, attendance lead, school counselor or social worker for support.
School Counselors work to improve school attendance district-wide. Staff members can:
Provide ideas to help improve attendance
Check in with students
Help solve problems
Explain the truancy process
It is hard for a student to be fully prepared and fully engaged when they miss classes. Improved attendance leads to improving academic achievement and increasing graduation rates. The Counseling and Support Team engages schools, students, families, and Ramsey County partners to intervene early when school attendance problems begin.
