ATAL Online FDP on
Smart Computing and Its Applications in Cyber Defense & Digital Forensics
December 16 to 21, 2024
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, West Bengal, organised an online 6-day AICTE-sponsored faculty development programme from 16th to 21st December 2024 under the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy on Smart Computing and its Applications in Cyber Defense and Digital Forensics, in which around 200+ participants from different parts of the country participated.
A total of 13 esteemed speakers from industry and academia participated in the 6-day online FDP to share their knowledge on smart computing and its applications in cyber defense and digital forensics. There were six resource persons from academia and seven from industry, with three of them being speakers from outside the country.
In this online faculty development programme, faculty members, research scholars, industry professionals, and M.Tech. students were enrolled. A total of 226 participants from 85 colleges and universities across 62 districts in 15 states of our country participated in the programme.

The 3-Day Seminar on Artificial Intelligence in Cyber Security: Challenges and Opportunities for Digital Bharat (Emerging Field: Advanced Computing (Supercomputing, AI, Quantum Computing)) under the AICTE-VAANI Scheme was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College during August 21-23, 2024. The seminar was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Mr. Khandbahale Umesh Ganpat, IPS, SP, JALPAIGURI DISTRICT POLICE, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Das, MD, WEBEL and State Information Security Officer, Addl. Secretary, Government of West Bengal and Dr. Amitava Ray, Principal, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College. The seminar was conducted in Bengali language. There were more than 50 participants from different AICTE-approved institutions. A total of 11 sessions were delivered on AI and Cyber security by eminent domain experts from the AI and Cyber Security area.
The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Subhas Barman, the seminar's program coordinator, to welcome the dignitaries and participants. The inaugural speech was delivered by Dr. Amitava Ray, Principal, of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College. The seminar was inaugurated by the ‘watering plant’ program followed by the lamp lighting ceremony. During the seminar, the following topics were covered by the speaker.

3rd International Conference on Network Security and Blockchain Technology

The 3rd International Conference on Network Security and Blockchain Technology (ICNSBT 2024) was jointly organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College and Comput Society of India, Kolkata Chapter held at Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College during June 06-08, 2024. This conference received 158 papers authored by 414 authors from 200 premier Institutes across the globe. A total of 35 research papers were presented in seven technical sessions during the conference. There were seven keynote talks delivered by eminent domain experts from around the world.
The conference was inaugurated in the gracious presence of Dr. Dipanwita Roychowdhury, IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Debashis De, MAKAUT, Prof. Debasis Giri, Chairman, CSI Kolkata Chapter, Sanjay Kumar Das, State Information Security Officer, West Bengal, Dr. Sanasam Ranbir Singh, Professor, IIT Guwahati, Prof. G. K, Panda, Principal-in-Charge, JGEC and Dr. Subhas Barman, Head, Department of CSE, JGEC.
The ICNSBT 2024 has provided a platform for researchers from academics and industry to present their original work and exchange ideas, information, techniques and applications in the fields of I) Security and Privacy, ii) Network Security and its Applications and iii) Blockchain Technology and Its Applications, and iv) AI/ML in Information Security.
There were a total of seven keynote talks delivered by experts from the academy as well as the Industry. Keynote talks mainly focussed on network security, cyber security and blockchain applications. The list of keynote speakers enriched with Dr. Sanasam Ranbir Singh, IIT Guwahati, Dr. Sandip Chakraborty, IIT Kharagpur, Dr. Saibal Kumar Pal, Senior Scientist, SAG, DRDO, Delhi, India, Dr. Samiran Chattopadhyay, Vice Chancellor, Techno India University, West Bengal, India, Dr. Weizhi Meng, Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Kongens Lyngby, Denmark, Mr. Shantanu, Scientist – E, SAG, DRDO, Delhi, India. A special talk was delivered by Mr. Sanjay Kumar Das, Add’l Secretary and State security officer of West Bengal on cyber security.
The conference included not only a technical paper presentation and keynote speech but also included a rally to raise cybersecurity awareness on 5th June 2024 at Jalpaiguri town. There was also an exceptional session called Industry Meet to discuss "Digital transformation and cybersecurity challenges in the Industry of North Bengal". Industry executives from different industries of North Bengal participated in the panel discussion.
The conference was financially supported by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defense, Government of India, the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited, and Coca-Cola.
