About the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College
Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC) is a NAAC-accredited premier institute for quality technical education in India. Established in 1961, the college has produced many talented engineers till now. It is a fully owned autonomous college of the Government of West Bengal affiliated with Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. At present, the institute offers six UG courses (CE, CSE, ECE, EE, IT, and ME) and two PG courses (EE and ME) in Engineering and Technology. Regular and qualified teachers contribute to teaching and learning. The institute aims to be an exemplar in teaching, research, and the development of personality, creating a competent and responsive human resource for society, the country, and the world. The Institute also comes under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC The institute is governed by a Board of Governors (BOG) constituted as per the provisions of the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the affiliating university/state government norms. The Governing Body consists of eminent educationists and industrialists as members. Support provided by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) under the Higher education department of the Government of West Bengal, efficient leadership, and contribution made by the faculty members, staff, stakeholders, and proactive students contributes to the development of core values of the Institution.

About the AICTE-VAANI Scheme
The scheme provides financial assistance to AICTE-approved institutions for organising conferences/seminars/workshops in emerging technical education fields in 22 Indian languages. The local language communication in India is vital for effective developmental action. According to the Census of India, 122 major languages and 1599 other languages, out of which over a million native speakers speak 30 languages in different parts of India. Disseminating knowledge and strengthening the learning process through the medium of Indian languages thus becomes a necessity to achieve the Viksit Bharat 2047 dream. Regional-level conferences/seminars/workshops on the recent trends/updates/innovations in technical fields are supported under this scheme.
এই প্রকল্পটি AICTE-অনুমোদিত প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলিকে ২২টি ভারতীয় ভাষায় উদীয়মান কারিগরি শিক্ষা ক্ষেত্রে সম্মেলন/সেমিনার/কর্মশালা আয়োজনের জন্য আর্থিক সহায়তা প্রদান করে। কার্যকর উন্নয়নমূলক কর্মকাণ্ডের জন্য ভারতে স্থানীয় ভাষার যোগাযোগ অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। ভারতের আদমশুমারি অনুসারে, ১২২টি প্রধান ভাষা এবং ১৫৯৯টি অন্যান্য ভাষা, যার মধ্যে ভারতের বিভিন্ন অংশে দশ লক্ষেরও বেশি স্থানীয় ভাষাভাষী ৩০টি ভাষায় কথা বলেন। ভারতীয় ভাষার মাধ্যমে জ্ঞান বিতরণ এবং শেখার প্রক্রিয়াকে শক্তিশালী করা এইভাবে Viksit Bharat ২০৪৭ স্বপ্ন অর্জনের জন্য একটি প্রয়োজনীয়তা হয়ে ওঠে। প্রযুক্তিগত ক্ষেত্রে সাম্প্রতিক প্রবণতা/আপডেট/উদ্ভাবনের উপর আঞ্চলিক স্তরের সম্মেলন/সেমিনার/কর্মশালা এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় সমর্থিত।
