About Nina Marrero

Hello! My name is Nina Marrero, and I am the Kindergarten Teacher at St. Catherine!

This is my 4th year teaching Kindergarten at St. Catherine, and absolutely love our school and community! I am an alumnae of St. Catherine (GO VIKINGS!) and I very much enjoy being able to teach at the school I went to. I graduated from St. Mary's College with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2015, and with my teaching credential in 2019. Between 2016-2019 I worked as a substitute teacher, where I was able to get a taste of every grade K-8. Kindergarten is, and always will be, my favorite grade! I believe in providing our youngest learners with an engaging, positive, fun, and loving environment.

We always begin our day with morning meeting and sharing time, where we go through the calendar, weather, number of the day, schedule, and sing good morning. I use a combination of technology, music, and movement throughout the day to engage our students and also get our wiggles out. Students receive daily ELA, Math, Religion, and Social Studies/Science lessons. Developing foundational reading and writing skills is of utmost importance in Kindergarten. St. Catherine uses the Superkids Reading Program, which is a phonics-based approach Language Arts program that combines phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, and handwriting.
