Digital Wellness Program at Winnona Park
At Winnona Park, our Digital Wellness Program is designed specifically for our K-2 students. In today’s technology-driven world, I believe that children must learn how to engage with digital devices responsibly and mindfully from a young age. Our program combines five health classes throughout the year that focus specifically on the physical, environmental, social/emotional, and digital citizenship aspects of technology use.
Through these classes, students will explore how technology affects their well-being, relationships, and their lives in general. They will also develop critical thinking skills to help them navigate the digital world safely and effectively.
Key Focus Areas Include:
Physical Wellness: Understanding the impact of screen time and promoting healthy habits.
Environmental Awareness: What are the responsible times and places for technology use?
Social/Emotional Wellness: Recognizing how technology affects emotions and relationships.
Digital Citizenship: Cultivating respectful and safe online behavior.
We are also committed to supporting families. Throughout the year, I will provide information in our weekly newsletter, as well as offer information sessions for adults to help guide your child’s digital journey. Together, we can ensure that our students grow into responsible, thoughtful users of technology.
