Students interested in auditioning for ILMEA should begin preparing the music attached over the summer. As a reminder, if a DGN student is taking orchestra for honors credit, they are rquired to audition for ILMEA. Auditions will be submitted through a YouTube link again this year. The sections need to be recorded in the order listed below:

ILMEA SENIOR STRINGS (Violin, Viola, Cello, & Bass):

• State-Selected Excerpt: Brahms Cycle. (attached below)

• Senior-Level Scales (attached below) Students will record 2 scales, selected from the ILMEA Scale Sheet. These should be played with detached bowing at quarter note=120. You may not use a metronome in your recording. The specific scales will be announced on September 10, 2025.

• District-Selected Excerpt: Danzas Fantasticas 'Orgia' by Joaquin Turina for violin & viola, and Swan Lake Suite by Tchaikovsky for cello & bass. Excerpts will be posted on September 9, 2026.

ILMEA HARP AUDITIONS:

• Etude #32 - ‘Allegro Scherzando’ (Entire). Please find all harp etudes using only the latest edition of Bochsa, Nicholas's 40 (Quarante Celebres Etudes) Easy Studies Op. 318, Book 2 (Salvi Publications). Any previous editions are permanently out of print, and may contain different etude titles and numbers.

• "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky Scene No. 4; beginning through cadenza.
