Course Description: In 5th grade orchestra, students acquire skills playing violin, viola, cello, or double bass. Students learn technique for playing, as well as many new songs and different exercises on their instrument. We use "String Innovations" as a method book to help guide students. Students can rent an instrument from the school for a $15.00 annual fee.
Practice : Students in the 5th Orchestra are expected to practice a minimum of 60 minutes each week.
Performance Calendar: The 5th Grade Orchestra will be performing in two major concerts each year. The winter concert is in December and the spring concert is in May. These concerts will be graded and are required for students in Orchestra. For information on these major concerts, please refer to the annual performance calendar. Please let Mr. Murzyn know as soon as possible if your child will not be able to attend.
