What is accelerated placement ?
Accelerated placement is the placement of a student in an educational setting with a curriculum that is usually reserved for students who are older or in higher grades than the student. Accelerated placement includes, but may not be limited to: early entrance to kindergarten or first grade, accelerating a student in a single subject, and grade acceleration.
Single Subject Acceleration is the practice of assigning a student to a higher subject level than is typical, given the student’s age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities in one or more subject areas. It may be accomplished by either: (a) physically moving the student to a higher level class for instruction; or (b) using higher level curricular or study materials in the student’s current classroom.
The following data will be evaluated examining the most recent data point available. ALL 4 components must be met for consideration of Advanced Placement.

Grade-Level Acceleration is the practice of assigning a student to a higher grade level than is typical, given the student’s age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities in all subject areas. Commonly referred to as skipping a grade, grade acceleration may be done at the beginning of or during the school term.
SAME AS SINGLE SUBJECT ACCELERATION EXCEPT MUST MEET ACADEMIC CRITERIA FOR BOTH READING AND MATH
Accelerated Placement Parent Request
Requests can be made between March 1st and May 1st for the following year. This allows us to test within our MAP testing window. For new students who move-in during the summer, parents may request a screening until the first day of the school year. Parents will contact the principal of the school the child will attend to initiate a discussion about the child’s accelerated placement potential and the criteria with a member of the Accelerated Placement Team. Additionally, students (with written consents of a parent/guardian) may initiate the referral process. Requests made outside of this window will not be considered. Licensed Educational Professionals may also initiate a request by first contacting the parent.
After the Accelerated Placement Team evaluates the student’s assessment evidence, parents will be contacted by a member of the Accelerated Placement Team to discuss the child’s data and the final decision about accelerated placement.
