Does your office or lab have an idea for a fun TGIF? Sign up to host! The process is pretty simple, here's all you need to do:
Come up with a theme and activity, the more creative the better.
Email the tgif chairs and have them add you to the schedule.
Purchase theme-related items (food, drinks, supplies, etc.) and get reimbursed (up to a "reasonable limit" which currently means $150).
Help with setup and cleanup, approximately 4:15pm to 6:30pm on Friday.
In the Allen Center atrium:
If appropriate for your theme, make sure you have the TGIF trophy to award to the winners!
Move the tables and chairs on the east end of the atrium out of the way.
Set up the retractable line formers to block off the TGIF area (this is required for us to have drinks at TGIF). They are stored in the grad mail room which your keycard should open.
Put up the TGIF donation poster with the beverage permit clipped to it. The TGIF chairs will make sure you have access to these.
Set out a table with donation baskets under the poster near the entry.
Set out the sign up sheet on this table!! We have to get attendance info if we want to be reimbursed. Make sure the form has the correct date! This step is the one we get nagged about most, so make sure not to forget the sign up sheet!!
Set up your theme-related food and activity :)
Take photos of the event, especially the winners with their TGIF trophy, and send them to the tgif web maintainer.
Please note that Gates Commons (on the 6th floor of Allen) is sometimes available for events the have specific needs (e.g., projector and/or audio setups), we generally prefer to use the Allen Atrium absent a specific need. If you would like to use the Gates Commons, this cannot be arranged at the last minute - events requires at least one week notice, preferably more.
In the Allen Center atrium:
Clean up your theme-related activity and food.
Collect the donations and TGIF donation poster and turn them in to one of the TGIF chairs.
Put the retractable line formers back in the grad mail room.
Return the tables and chairs to their normal positions in the Allen Center Atrium.
