Operations is the logistical, financial, contractual, and liability side of event planning. It could seem tedious at times, but it is very essential.

WHY IS OPERATIONS ESSENTIAL?

Effectiveness. There are many factors, many elements which go into achieving the goals of a Fall Retreat. Operations provide tools and processes for organizing and executing toward these goals.

Safety. To keep Cru as an organization safe, but to also keep all the people who work for Cru away from legal harm.

Stewardship. We have intention to best reflect well on Christian values when it comes to finance. We must avoid reckless spending, hold ourselves accountable in our financial decisions, and protect the participants and staff.

WHAT ARE THE COMPONENTS OF THE OPERATIONS GUIDE?

1. Creating an event using the online Event Registration Tool (ERT)

  • In order to receive payments for the Fall Retreat and have your retreat as an official Cru event, you must register it first.

2. Inquiring about payment options

  • You need to make sure that you have all the means necessary to accept credit cards, debit cards, checks, and cash.

3. Contracting with venues

  • These are written documents shared with the venue that proclaim both sides will honor their side of the agreements made.

4. Setting a budget

  • To ensure smart and safe spending, we must create an estimate on how much money we'll use for each aspect of Fall Retreat - from capture the flag to housing.

5. Checking in students and staff on-site

  • Operations doesn't end when your Fall Retreat starts. There are a couple of things you'll have to do during the event.
