Can I still apply if I fall outside of the age range for the programme?
Yes! Please send an enquiry to us and we are happy to discuss if this programme will fit your needs - we will review special applications on a case-by-case basis.
Do I need to be practicing as a professional in my craft in order to join this programme?
No, you do not need to be a professional to join the programme. We welcome creatives at various skill levels who wish to grow and explore how their creative gifting can intersect with their faith. However, a portfolio submission is still required as participants should be already practicing their craft in order for this programme to be relevant for them.
Will I be learning technical / practical skills during the course of this programme?
The focus of the programme is not about learning technical skills but on growing individuals in their art and faith journey. However, in the midst of engaging in creative activities as a community across all three phases, it is likely that participants will find opportunities to hone and grow in their crafts.
What is the commitment of the programme like?
The Creative’s Journey runs over 3 phases, with the commitment for each specific phase as such:
Phase 1 (Feb - April): Community Gatherings
Small Group Meetings: 2 meetings per month; the timing is to be arranged within your small groups.
Crea Gatherings: 1 meeting per month; specific dates will be announced in January 2025.
Phase 2 (May- July): Exposure Programmes
We have a variety of projects that you can choose to be involved in e.g.: a mission trip, an arts residency, an apprenticeship with a mentor, or involvement with a local project.
Commitment will depend on which project you choose. We have programmes for everyone - whether you are a working adult, on internship or a student with a longer holiday, etc. We believe these programmes can be fitted to your schedule.
For the Mission Trip and the Arts Residency, it will be overseas and duration will be about 1.5 - 2 weeks.
For Apprenticeship and involvement with a local project, commitment will vary according to the partner.
There will be a retreat at the end of this phase for participants to consolidate and connect with each other about their experiences and prepare for Phase 3. Exact dates will be confirmed at a later date.
Crea Gatherings: 1 meeting per month; specific dates will be announced in January 2025.
Phase 3 (Aug - Oct) : Final Project
The Final Project phase is a time where you work on a personal project that reflects what you have learnt or pursue a cause that God has placed upon your heart. This time is largely self managed, with guidance and accountability to mentors. There will be ongoing connection with the community you have built friendships with through monthly Crea gatherings. There will be an opportunity to show your work at the end of TCJ to the community and friends who have supported you through this journey.
Crea Gatherings: 1 meeting per month; specific dates will be announced in January 2025.
If I cannot commit to the full duration of the programme, can I still sign up?
As much as possible, we will like our mentees to commit to the full duration of the programme. If there are any exceptions or concerns, please let us know.
If the cost fee is an issue for me, what should I do?
The last thing we will want is for fees to be a limiting factor for your participation in the programme. Raising financial support for the fee is an option - help will be provided and our team is committed to journeying with you to see God’s provision for your time in this programme.
Should I be applying for financial assistance?
If you currently do not have an income and/or come from a lower income background, you can apply for a bursary by dropping us an email at creaenquiry@cru.org.sg. As the bursary provided is not a scholarship, we hope that participants will only apply for the bursary should they fall into either of these two categories mentioned above.
