Elementary Music

This is where I share links for at-home Music options. I encourage every student to listen to and to MAKE music. You can use anything! Your feet, your hands, your body ... and, of course, your voice. Feel free to explore and experiment with other options. These are just here to get you started. 😊

It's a FROZEN Ballet Lesson!! This one's geared toward my youngest students (and their even younger siblings)! Move, learn some Ballet positions and terms, and dance along with this charismatic ballet instructor. 😊

For my older students, how about the dance moves to "This is Me" from The Greatest Showman? This tutorial is nice and slow. If you want to move faster, there are others on YouTube that take it at a faster pace. (I like how this dance instructor uses a mirror so she can face away and show you EXACTLY how to move/stand without you having to switch it around in your mind because she's facing you.)

"If Feet Could Talk" song & movement video. This is one of the songs from our planned Elementary Music & Art Showcase (spring concert). The performers in the video are wearing tap shoes, but the movement can easily be modified to steps rather than taps. Try it out! It's a fun, catchy tune. If you get the steps down, send me a video! I'd love to see it. :-)

"Bim Bum" This one is a favorite among my students. Teach it to your families, kids! :-) Send me a video of a group of you doing it together.

Body Percussion Can you still do it, 4th & 5th Graders? Try mastering it and then speeding it up. Send me a video of you nailing it!

To get started, check out Laurie Berkner on YouTube. She has some fabulous songs, especially for younger students. Although, be warned: they're catchy tunes that you'll find YOURSELF singing, too! :-) www.youtube.com/user/TheLaurieBerknerBand
