How many students can be on a team?
2-3, otherwise they will be grouped with other individuals.
What grade level can students be?
6-8. While 7-8th grade math will be useful, we love for aspiring 6th grade students to challenge themselves.
Are there exceptions around team size?
We do not allow teams outside of 2-3 students. However, feel free to have students sign-up as individuals or have multiple teams from your school.
Can students outside of 6-8th grade participate?
Yes, please contact us at nicholas.todhunter@crpusd.org if you have students below the grade limit. We do not allow high schoolers to compete.
Is there a registration limit
Yes, no more than 30 students will be allowed to register, however, we recommend filling out the form to be on a waiting list if people cancel.
What level of math will be necessary for the competition?
Basic pre-algebra, percentages, fractions, area, and length, along with some creative thinking, are all that are needed. See Format.
Is transportation provided?
No, though we encourage carpooling.
How long is the competition?
3 hours and 15 minutes. 8:15 am - 11:30 pm.
Is there adult supervision?
Yes, teachers and administration will be present. However, we welcome parents to stay and will have coffee for chaperones.
Is food and water available?
Yes, we will have bottled water and snacks available during break periods.
Do we need to bring any tools?
Yes, bring a pencil, eraser, and a water bottle. Calculators are not allowed
What awards are received for winning?
They will receive certificates for individual and group placement.
