Multi-Industry Shadow Experiences
This is where it all happens. Authentic Session Facilitators represent industries aligned with the Career Clusters framework (Advance CTE). This means that PCD provides student CAP programs for nationally recognized industries.
PCD's centralized mid-state location means we can bring schools and partners together in an efficient way that maximizes the time, talent, and resources of all.
PCD's Career Connections programming is driven by PCD's three pillars:
Authentic - industry experts provide key information, stories, and a realistic understanding of the industry, where students can ask questions from people who are actually doing the work.
Relevant - Student program recruitment is done through PCD"s school liaisons. They register students who either: self select, are nominated to participate, are interested in the industry - but may not be ready to make a career choice.
Quality - PCD's intentially small industry sessions allow genuine interactions with industry professionals. Student-centered inquiry is best achieved through face-to-face interactions.
PCD connects students and educators with regional businesses, industries, and post-secondary schools and training facilities who are open for site visits.
PCD's multi-school/district model means that partners can reach many schools with a single call to PCD. In PCD"s decades of experience, we've heard repeatedly that partners are often frustrated trying to find the right connections, and efforts fall to the wayside awaiting a solidified connection. Duplicative efforts are common.
PCD's partners & schools, through the Cradle to Career Alliance, a collective impact model for CAP, have helped to develop an online connector tool - PCD Career Connect - to engage partners in PCD and school-based offerings like site visits. Work-Based Learning (WBL) opportunities, and more.
PCD's three yearly events include:
PCD Program Kickoff - September, yearly
PCD Career Ready Symposium: November 12, 2025 - networking & resources expo, professional development, student WBL panel, and much more. NEW - event is provided midday, by feedback requests.
PCD Showcase Brunch: April 30, 2026 - capstone event for VIPs
Developed by the Cradle to Career Alliance, this initiative provides a full year of dedicated weeks to celebrate careers across industries.
Career Recognition Weeks provide a common timeframe for partners to talk about what they are doing, what they did, and their importance in the future workplace.
Alignment with the national Career Clusters framework, with additional feedback from Alliance members means that just about every major industry cluster is represented during the school year.
