Mid-1970s: The 1975–76 Talon yearbook showcases the varsity cheerleaders (“Talonettes”) led by a "Captain," "1st Lt.," and "2nd Lt.," with a dedicated sponsor encouraging school spirit and halftime performances. These squads practiced diligently and focused on boosting morale at games and events.
Late-1970s: In 1978, cheerleaders and Talonettes were essential to pep rallies, ushering in football players and energizing crowds. Their presence fostered a communal school spirit, rallying over 700 students.
1980s: Cheerleaders continued to animate pep rallies with dynamic routines, interacting closely with both students and faculty. A 1984 yearbook mentions cheerleaders “bouncing across the floor,” orchestrating spirited performances that reinforced unity and pride.
