1. Infringer (violator) pays the actual dollar amount of damages and profits.
   1. a. The law provides a range from $200 to $150,000 for each work infringed.
2. Infringer pays for all attorneys fees and court costs.
3. The Court can issue an injunction to stop the infringing acts.
4. The Court can impound the illegal works.
5. The infringer can go to jail.

Your YouTube channel is becoming very popular and you're even starting to make money off the advertising but that all changes when you receive an email notice about a copyright infringement.

Over the last year, you've been uploading tutorials. At first your videos were amateurish but they have become very professional with a music soundtrack in the background and great transitions. You are really proud of these videos and you've started to get 1,000s of views so when this email arrives in your inbox you feel like you've been hit by a ton of bricks. The record label, Universal Music Group, says they will sue you if you don't take down the videos that feature the music on their label. Afterall, you never asked permission and you certainly didn't pay them to use their music. You gulp and slowly begin to delete the videos you spent hours working on.
