Last October, I partook in a Conemaugh Fall Career Trip at the Conemaugh Hospital. During the trip I learned valuable information about the health field. The trip truly inspired my desire to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. We had the opportunity to witness yet another heart surgery on March 6th of this year.
Our FBLA advisor presented our chapter the chance to experience an open-heart surgery in Pittsburgh in March of last year. During the surgery, we watched several medical professionals work together to operate and care for the patient during surgery. On March 6th of this year, we had the opportunity to witness yet another open-heart surgery by Dr. M. Scott Halbreiner. Where we watched an aortic valve replacement.
I had the opportunity to job shadow our school nurse at Chestnut Ridge. I learned how to check someone's blood pressure, heart rate, hydration level, and temperature. See below for more pictures.
After completing an interest assessment during Personal Finance, the results concluded that social, investigating and enterprising are my strongest areas. See below for more information.
I utilized two different websites, careeronestop.org and mynextmove.org to evaluate my results. According to mynextmove.org my strongest attribute is social which as you can see explains my desire to help people. My other top interest is investigative. This demonstrates my need to figure out problems. Both of these top attributes make a career as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner an ideal position based on my personality and interest.
