Dear Neighbors,
It has been an honor and pleasure to serve on the Kensington Town Council for the past four years and to help our Town grow and continue to thrive as a wonderful community to live, work, and play. Over the past four years as a member of the Town Council, I have worked to improve our parks as the Chair of the Greenscape Committee and Council lead for securing a Maryland state grant to build a picnic pavilion in St. Paul Park (built Summer 2019). I've worked to promote our wonderful Town shops and businesses as the Council liaison to our business district. I have worked alongside our mayor, town staff, and fellow council colleagues to champion pedestrian and bicycle safety and compatible development projects that will benefit Kensington. And, when COVID-19 began to change the way things needed to operate in the Town, I helped to coordinate a by-mail election in 2020 and to keep the Farmers' Market open and operation through all of the County's changing restrictions.
But there is still work to be done.
I’m running for re-election to the Kensington Town Council to continue working on:
Increasing pedestrian safety and making Kensington an even more walkable community
Securing the all-way stop at St. Paul Street and Metropolitan Avenue (SHA agreed; we just need to make sure it happens)
Installation of Rectangular, Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) by State Highway at Wheatley Street and Metropolitan Avenue (again, SHA agreed; we just need to make sure it happens)
Reduced speed limits on the State Highways bisecting the Town as well as on our local roads
Advocating for the Summit Avenue Extended Project with MCDOT, SHA, and the County Council
Improving our Town parks and greenspaces
Improving and updating our playground equipment, public walking paths, and maintaining the gardens in our parks
Ensuring compatible development that meets or exceeds our Sector Plan
Advocating for the Town during the THRIVE Montgomery 2050 public process
Continuing to review commercial development to ensure it meets our Sector Plan and negotiating for the best community benefits for the Town
Reviewing and updating Town Ordinances where necessary to ensure compatibility between all styles of housing
Continue fostering an inclusive community for all who live, work, and visit the Town of Kensington
I hope you share in my continued vision for the Town of Kensington. If so, I hope I can count on your vote for re-election to the Kensington Town Council.
