Crimmins Family (L to R): Deaglan, Fionn, Casey, Aoife, Conor, and Padraig
I grew up in the small town of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin - a town much like Kensington. As a kid, I remember coming in from school, dropping my coat and backpack at the mudroom door, and racing back out across the street to play football with my neighborhood friends in the boulevard. I remember the annual 4th of July parades through town and the annual pumpkin carving displays at Halloween. Above all, I remember how much I loved living in that little town as a kid and how it shaped my early life.
Fast forward 30+ years. Here I am able to watch as our four kids enjoy a very similar childhood, complete with playing with friends in St. Paul Park, 4th of July and Labor Day parades, festivals on Howard Avenue, movies in the park, and food truck nights (remember all those fun things...).
It’s an incredible quality of life. What we enjoy in the Town of Kensington is more than just a neighborhood -- it’s a community. A community of neighbors, friends, and families that love to get out and enjoy everything that Kensington has to offer: great parks, Town parades and festivals, a vibrant farmers' market, and a collection of fun and unique shops and restaurants. I am running for re-election to the Kensington Town Council to continue the work of making Kensington such an amazing place to live, work, play, visit, and raise a family.
I was born seventh of eight kids in the small town of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. At the age of 10, my family moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where I lived before heading to Northfield, Minnesota for college. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and International Relations from Carleton College. Prior to graduation, I started a software technology consulting company with my college roommate. After having early success with customers in and around Washington D.C., we relocated our company from Minnesota to Washington, D.C.
While living in Washington D.C., I met my amazing wife, Casey, serendipitously; a girl from Mississippi and a boy from Minnesota. We married three years later and now, after 14 years of marriage, are the proud parents of three wonderful boys, Fionn (11), Deaglan ("Dex") (8), and Padraig ("Podgie") (4) and one amazing daughter, Aoife (2). Oh, and of course, our cat, Luca.
Casey, Fionn, Deaglan, and I moved to the Town of Kensington in 2014 after a decade of living in the Brookland neighborhood of NE Washington, D.C. As parents of two small children (at that time), we went in search of not just a neighborhood, but a community where we could raise our family. Like so many, we were in search of great schools and parks, safe streets, and small town charm -- but still close to the city. While there may be many great neighborhoods around Washington that fit that description we were in search of a small town with a tight-knit community, with shops and restaurants we could walk to and where our kids could play with friends in the park until dark. That is what brought us to Kensington.
In the seven years since we moved to the Town of Kensington, we’ve welcomed our third son (Padraig, "Podgie") and our first daughter (Aoife), we've made wonderful friends, we've met many amazing neighbors, and enjoyed raising our kids in this special and supportive community.
On any given day, you can usually find our family in our yard on St. Paul Street, hanging out with friends and neighbors at St. Paul Park, or at the Kensington Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings.
