More than 28 percent of what we through away can be composted, according to the (EPA) U.S. Enviromental Protection Agency. This percentage that can be composted can be processed in a home waste management system that then can be used for gardens since compost is rich in nutrients.
What is the purpose of this website
The purpose of this website is to raise awareness of the problem that might arise with polluted soil creating an ecosystem where plants can't grow and provide food and other needed functions. I invite everyone to spread the message and do the first steps at home by creating a composter at home for your garden or if you just wish to create rich earth for other reasons. On the bar on top, you can see the instructions on how to create a composter at home.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
It is important because it is a big deal of leaving waste unused or without a purpose when we may run out of resources in the future. In this case we throw out compostable material with unrecyclable trash. What this causes is instead of using the organic compostable matter to create rich earth it gets contaminated in the landfills. But our earth becomes less rich with nutrients at the same time, let me explain. Plants grow and take nutrients from the earth, then we collect the usable to us crop and consume/use it, the rest is thrown away. The earth does not get the nutrients back from the plant that has been thrown away as in nature. So that is why we use fertilizers to artificially add nutrients to the earth. But if we composted the plant matter that either way was going to be thrown away and use that as natural fertilizer the earth would gain some of its nutrients back. This method if used all around the world would create a closed cycle. Some countries already use this method and have a compost public trash bins placed but not all.
