Mission of the project
SLOW SUMER is aimed at analysing repair, reuse and recycling in Sumerian society between 2500-2000 BC, opening in this way a new trend of studies on these practices in ancient Mesopotamia
Material Culture
Slow Sumer will focus on common material culture, analysing, e.g., bitumen, lithic, structures
Sociological Studies
Slow Sumer will realise ‘objectual’ biographies and fictional narratives and define the network of relations hidden behind repair reuse and recycling in Sumerian society
Philological Studies
Slow Sumer will use the main related literature and the available Assyriological databases to search and collect evidence of repair, reuse and recycling of pottery, stones and metals in cuneiform sources
Chemical & Physical Analyses
Slow Sumer will collect new data through chemical and physical analyses on AbT materials
Environmental Analyses
Slow Sumer will realise a reliable assessment of the 2500-2000 BC Sumer environment, aimed at a correct framing of the project results
Machine Learning
Slow Sumer will analyse the data, extracting valuable information by applying Machine Learning (ML) and data mining techniques
