Welcome to the CRECER MODEL OF UNITED NATIONS. We'll teach you the essentials of committee preparation, time management, and negotiation that will get you ready for your next conference.
In a world like the one we live in, due to the development of technology and communications, the tensions and conflicts that are experienced, regardless of where they occur, have an impact on all areas and corners of it. Colleges, schools and universities also reflect the stresses and sufferings that human beings experience. For this reason, no effort should be spared so that, in educational centers, conflicts, world crises and all the issues that, in one way or another, reach humanity are treated and analyzed. The United Nations, founded 60 years ago, is the only organization that has the indispensable infrastructure to help find solutions to conflicts, promote social progress, and address virtually all issues that confront mankind. The "United Nations Model" responds to these concepts: - analyze the conflicts and evils that arise to humanity - know in depth the structure of the world organization that deals with all these problems. In this didactic activity, faced with one or several specific topics, students reflect, debate, negotiate and provide solutions as the authentic delegates of the 193 Member States that make up the United Nations Organization would do. This experience allows students to take the place of diplomats from different UN States and address the most important issues on the United Nations agenda from different perspectives. For more than 50 years, teachers and students from all over the world have benefited from and enjoyed this experience that not only stimulates debate and discussion of global issues, but also encourages the development of useful skills for their lives. It is extremely important that the Model United Nations exercise be as close as possible to the reality of the organization. These standards, although based on the official regulations, have been adapted, for pedagogical reasons, for the realization of the United Nations Model. The main purpose of this is to serve as reference material during the preparation and development of the United Nations Model. . In short, this manual aims to be a contribution for those young people who want to realize the true dream, in which many believe, of building a better world through education.
It is a model or simulation of the United Nations System in which all Prepa Crecer students participate. Being the first year that the MUN CRECER will be held at the Institute, this event will be exclusively for High School students, for later years students from other Institutions may be invited.
It is an educational and cultural event in which the participants develop the attributes of the community profile, the key concepts, skills of approaches to learning and learn about the global contexts related to the Middle Years Program (MYP) and the orientation program. IB Professional (POP) because they are trained on issues of international politics and the functioning of the United Nations, and also acquire a global vision of the current world in which they live their lives.
On the other hand, it helps students to improve their techniques of persuasion, negotiation, writing and public speaking. In the same way, it helps young people to understand that the best way to resolve a conflict is through dialogue without ever resorting to violence.
The SUCCESS of the MUN CRECER lies in the preparation and investigation of its delegates and in having a clear idea of the position of the countries in relation to the topics to be debated. Another important issue is the management that the delegates have of the series of regulations and norms applied in the debate, which are very similar to those used in the different United Nations organizations.
